How to put together a Casual Look

Knowing how to dress up for an occasion is often quite easy; for work you have your shirts on deck, a night out calls for a sexy little dress, but knowing how to put a look together which is casual but still really cute and presentable is often more of a challenge. I’ve seen way too many ladies teetering on the side of untidy and disheveled when all they’re trying to do is be comfortable. You can dress for comfort and still look good people! Its all about balance. Take a usually formal look and apply the below tips to transform it into a relaxed, chic look. Here is The Lazy Girl’s Guide for pulling together The Stylish Girl’s Casual Look.

  1. Switch up your high heels for a luxe pair of sneakers. I’m crazy about a good pair of sneakers just as much as I’m passionate about a good pair of heels. In this post I’m wearing my favourite pair of Adidas Stan Smiths. Stan Smiths are a classic pair of sneakers and are super versatile. I don’t know what it is about them, but they can be worn with almost any look. This pair features a textured, glossy honeycomb effect which adds a refreshing spin on the typically retro style Stan Smiths.
  2. Dress down a usually formal piece with something relaxed and simple. Pair a formal pair of pants or pencil skirt with a white t-shirt or vest. Or alternatively pair a button down shirt with a pair of shorts. I often wear these pants with a white shirt or blouse, so to dress them down this time I’ve paired them with a loose, flowy vest.
  3. Watch your accessorise. A small clutch can look too serious and contrived, a large shopper can look too casual and relaxed. A medium sized bag is perfect to accessorise a chic, relaxed look while still being large enough to be practical and carry around all your essentials.
  4. Pick a colour palette. Black and white is my easy, go to colour combination. To add variety, I’d also go for nudes, greys and navy. Not much variety right? Basic, neutral colours naturally make your outfit look a little more put together.
  5. Top it off with a fun pop of lipstick.
