Year of Investment

Coming up with my first post for 2017 has been a challenge. I don’t really have resolutions so trying to figure out what angle my first post of the year would take took me a little longer than usual. I’ve decided to keep it short and sweet. I’ve dubbed 2017 the Year of Investments. So I’ve decided to dedicate the year to investing in myself, my finances, my career, my health, my spiritual and mental wellbeing. This means putting myself out of my comfort zone more, venturing into the unknown and exposing myself to new things and experiences I haven’t done before. This is the only way I will grow. This is the only way I will learn. I also understand that not all investments will yield the reward I expect. I’m opening myself up to failure too because without failure I’ll never reach the success I desire. I’m being more selfish and putting my needs first (as much as I can) and trying not to feel bad about it. In doing so I've committed myself to learning about and liking the woman I’m growing into.

Shooting with Tegan Smith makes me feel like I've come full circle. My very first look shoot for this blog was with Tegan and back then I had no idea what my site would look like and what it would become. I just knew I wanted great quality photographs and great quality content. I'm definitely more comfortable in front of the lens now and I feel more assured in myself and what I have to offer. Catching up with Tegan was a blast and I had a little fun looking back and comparing my first shoot which was a year ago to these images.

I think it goes without saying that I only wear pieces I love, but I REALLY adore this look. It's put together with some of favourite pieces from my wardrobe so I don't know where to start.

I've been searching for a reasonably priced genuine leather jacket for years now. My ideal is a Saint Laurent biker jacket or a cropped Acne Studios jacket, but that's out of my price range now, so I was ecstatic when I found this leather jacket from Witchery. It didn't come cheap. This is one of my favourite investment purchases of 2016. It's luxe, the leather is soft and the silver hardware adds a little tough edge. I'm a sucker for a statement mini skirt so when the Balmain x H&M range was released this was a must have for me. The range is from 2015 and I barely wear this skirt but when I do it's a serious standout. I usually feel like capsule collections are trendy so they don't last but this skirt is the exception. Then what can I say about these RSF mirrored sunglasses? Every time I wear them I get approached by people asking what they are and where I got them from. They are a serious statement piece and go perfectly with the skirt.
