Sunday marked the final day of The #LUXBoldTour. This fabulous 3-day extravaganza culminated in a brunch hosted at the beautiful Audacia Boutique Hotel. Set in a colonial-style mansion resting on the hills in Morningside, we were welcomed into the brunch with a purple drink and a warm welcome by Kristin Tennent, Senior Brand Manager at Unilever. On the terrace was an opulent table decorated in shades of gold with crystals. I knew there and then that that day would be a special one. We were seated, nibbled on sumptuous snacks and hors d'oeuvres, and sipped on cappuccinos to stave off the chill. We met with Sphe and Zola from Unilever and other bold women were present. This was the perfect setting to start our "What makes you Bold?" discussion. We all shared a little bit about ourselves, who we are, what we do, where we see ourselves in the future and our thoughts on what makes us bold. This was my favourite day of the tour, albeit the shortest, because it's discussions like this that inspired me to start my website. Looking beautiful and dressing up are all fun, frivolous (and very necessary) parts of life but I wanted to start a website that stood for something and that supported more than my vanity. The other women present came from difference backgrounds with different stories to tell and I honestly couldn't help but think of how lucky I was to be part of a campaign which celebrates individuality, courage and simply makes you want to become a better version of yourself.
My vision of being bold and what I hold dearest to me is my confidence and being comfortable enough to be authentic. I don't feel like I need to act in a certain way, or look a certain way to fit in or to be accepted. My website allows me to celebrate that and I hope with me taking the step to live authentically gives you the courage to do the same. It took me most of my twenties to come to terms with myself, to believe in myself, to believe that my dreams are valid and to simply fall in love with myself and I've vowed to never dim my shine in lieu of someone else's. There's so much power in knowing that you were made the way you are for a reason and living authentically is the best way to celebrate that.
After we went around the table and everyone had their opportunity to speak their turn, and we all had a chance to mingle and chat while nibbling on delicious canapès and sipping on bubbly by the pool area
My planned look for the brunch was a black and white little number which I decided to change at the last minute on account of the weather. The weather still wasn't warm enough for me and I was looking to wear something a little more relaxed after spending the weekend being dressed up.
