In the Trenches

Welcome to 2016! I took a much needed break over the festive period and I’m happy to say I feel well rested and I’m ready to dive into another busy year. I’m looking forward to continue tackling my dreams and working towards achieving my goals. Sometimes I need to switch off and forget about social media and the internet for a while to just be present and enjoy the time I spend with the people around me. The festive period is the perfect time for this. It also saved me from seeing the countless “New Year, New Me” posts which flood my timeline. I’m all for self improvement but let’s be real, you don’t need to wait until the beginning of the year to turn over a new leaf and do something you’ve always wanted to do. Whether it’s making your health a priority, upping your game and learning a new skill or growing yourself spiritually, forget about new year’s resolutions and set goals for yourself. Then start working towards those goals now. Regardless of the day or the month and how long it will take you. Your dreams and aspirations are valid yours to chase! They shouldn’t be dependant on a date. Go get ’em tiger!

About the Look

A clean, classic, honey coloured, slim fit trench coat is an essential wardrobe staple, especially in the rainy summer months we have. Like the ever elusive, perfect leather jacket, a good quality trench coat has been on my radar for years now. When I close my eyes and think of the perfect trench coat, a Burberry Heritage trench comes to mind. It’s minimal, made of durable, weatherproof gabardine fabric, features the iconic Burberry check undercollar and it costs a fortune! So in the meanwhile I found the perfect trench which won’t leave me broke and eating noodles for a few months. Trench coats go with absolutely EVERYTHING! You can slip it over your shift dress, over your work suit or denims and a t-shirt like I have. The versatility is limitless which is why I count it as basic item. On rainy days I travel around with mine in the car, just in case I need to shield myself from the wet weather.

Pairing denims and a white tshirt is one of my boring uniforms. This is my go to outfit whenever time isn’t on my side and I need to be out of the house in a flash. It’s so easy to jazz it up and turn it into a cute ensemble, albeit a laid back one, with a pair of sexy stilettos, a jacket and a cute handbag.

I love everything you are wearing however, I love the denim more. I often struggle with fit for my small waist and curvy bottom and if I find a good fit, the jeans are just not gorgeous. The pair you are wearing is stunning.

Thank you! I also struggle finding a pair of jeans that are firm but stretchy enough to fit my behind and waist. This cut (its called Stilt) AG fits me perfectly and I don’t think I’ll ever wear another pair. I bought 3 pairs in different washes at one go because they fit me so well! Keep looking, trust me when you find the right pair you’ll never want to go back
