Summer Black Out

I’m inspired by dramatic daytime looks characterized by bare shoulders, frills, flares, high waists, wide legs, chokers and short hems. All in black. Summer 16 is all about minimal looks in eye-catching, dramatic silhouettes. Black isn’t usually reserved for summer but I can't resist an all black ensemble, even in the scorching heat. First up is a sleeveless, belted dress from Solace London worn as a long top over flared pants. The detail on the top is so modest I wouldn’t blame you for missing the part that extends just past the bust and over onto the arm. Moving clockwise, this frilled dress from MSGM is so cute and playful but looks grown up and mature in black. I love that it's not too tight and short so it’s flirty without being too provocative.  MSGM is one of my new fave brands. Next up is an amazing look from local designer Matte Nolim. Everything is perfectly proportioned from the strapless, frilled crop top to the high waisted, angled frilled pants, accessorized by a plain black thick choker. Last but not least is a strapless, dress from Australian Dion Lee. I love the juxtaposition of bare shoulders and covered arms.

the crop top & high waist pants is more practical for me, black is definitely an all 4 season color with the designs like these, awesome.

Right?!? I’m over trying to stick to the norm. I want to wear black all year long!
