The Sansui Summer Cup 2016

The Sansui Summer Cup took place this past weekend, the 26th of November at the Turrfontein Racecourse in Johannesburg. The weather behaved and the sun came out to allow me to enjoy my very first Summer Cup. Myself and the other influencers were hosted in the Summer Garden which was trackside and gave us an optimal view of all the action.

This was by far my favorite race to attend in Gauteng because, apart from the actual horse races, the Sansui Summer Cup incorporates other interesting and entertaining aspects. There is a design competition which incorporates a mobile fashion show. Steele Model Studio in conjunction with the Tshwane University of Technology presents the Top 10 Graduates of 2016, where they present their high fashion creations and have the opportunity to showcase their designs at the prestigious event. Models parade around the racecourse and make their way to the different marquees which gives the designers an opportunity to display their creations to the public. The winner takes home R20 000.

Then there was the Sound Experience which brought together some of South Africa’s best talent under one roof. Twins on Deck, Kwesta, Major League, DJ Speedsta and Nadia Nakai all provided entertainment until late into the evening. The Sansui Summer Cup is the most diverse horse racing event I have attended, catering for music lovers, fashionistas, horse racing aficionados, fans who are hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite celebs or families just looking to enjoy a fun filled afternoon out with the kids.

For the event, I was fortunate enough to be dressed by Forever New. This isn’t a dress I would usually go for but when I saw it I knew I HAD to try it on. The longer length back allows me to show some leg will still keeping to the semi formal look. I had so much fun with this dress as it swayed in the wind and had a little dramatic flair. I paired it with a white chained handbag from Forever New.
