Initially when I was approached to take part in this campaign I had my doubts. Was this actually the right fit for me? I was selected along with 14 other fashion influencers to take part in the #WEARITWORKIT campaign. The brief was simple, shop at Woolworths, style a look using pieces from the Edition range then take images to submit for the campaign. Easy! If you’ve been following my blog then you know that I’m a HUGE Woolworths fan, and I’ve kept it no secret that I’ve been dying to work with them. (Hi Woolworths!) So what was causing the uncertainty? See, at first glance Edition seems like a youthful range, and I genuinely thought my style was too mature and classic to find anything I’d want to wear, let alone shoot. Boy, was I wrong! On closer inspection, Edition encompasses a vast range of versatile basic staples and statement pieces which are reasonable and easy on your pocket. There was so much to choose from that I was overwhelmed by all my options. You can satiate your luxe athleisure cravings with luxurious, velour track suits and bombers, build your wardrobe foundation with basic tees and sweaters or make a statement with pieces featuring prints, embroidery or lace. The options are immense, and I was left with a dilemma as I could only pick one look to style. When I initially thought I’d have nothing to choose from, I ended up taking hours deciding on my look. I guess that’s the beauty of such collaborations, they show you that people with totally different styles can each find pieces that speak to them.
Inspired by a quote I read in Complex magazine describing Kanye West's and Adidas Yeezy Season 1 show as "a luxurious kind of utilitarianism”, I opted for a sexy spin on a utility chic look. I paired an army green high/low turtleneck with a matching, textured, wrap front mini skirt and layered a cosy faux fur trimmed parka over it. I managed to stay true to my minimal aesthetic and rock a sexy, casual look while wearing pieces all from the Edition range.
